Small (approx 12 lb), female, friendly, healthy dog. White w/ tan markings. Possible Chihuahua and rat (?) terrier mix. Short hair (not wirey). Pointed ears. Super clean / white teeth indicate a youthful gal. No tag. Found Sunday, 5/20 by the water on N Bayshore Dr. somewhere btwn 85th and 88th.

Placed ad in Miami Herald and reported to 311. Going to try the Humane Society tomorrow. Other ideas welcome.

If owner does not claim, I'm happy to discuss adoption w/ any interested parties. Vet references will be required in addition to personal references.

Place ads around the neighborhood you found him to find the owner of the dog.

No tag usually means one of 2 things. Either the poor thing was abandoned somewhere very far from it's home. Or it was a back yard dog that freaked out during a thunder storm and took off running and is now lost. I find both of those scenarios to be cruel so I hope the pup finds a better home than it's last.

I see it all the time during the thunder storm season. Most dogs are terrified of thunder and will do things you never thought they were capable of in an attempt to escape. Jump over fences, dig holes under fences, actually chew through a wooden fence, etc... then just run for miles and miles. They will not stay in their little dog house when the thunder gets really bad. Please keep tags on your dogs at all times, even if they're back yard dogs. Better yet, let them in the house when the weather is like this.

Have you checked Craigslist http://miami.craigslist.org/laf/.
Put an ad on Craigslists Miami lost and Found section. But don't put the picture, you need the owner to identify the dog somehow.

Did you try having it scanned for a microchip?
