Geez, you have to pay just to go to the park in Miami, too? Must be a Florida no income tax thing.

In California you have to pay to go into many parks, they have state income taxes.

In Connecticut as well, and I could list many more states where I had to pay to go to parks, and all of them had a state income tax.

However, there are plenty of parks around Miami where a person does not have to pay, I go to them frequently for outdoor activities.

I dunno. I never had to pay to go to local neighborhood bike paths when I lived in California or anywhere else. Now, if the park had a pool or if it was one of those big national parks, or a beach park, or a mountain park then yes there were parking fees. Not neighborhood parks, but that may have changed.

You do not have to pay for neighborhood parks here in Miami, or many places in FL because I have been to them in a few places and did not have to pay.

What parks in CA do you have to pay to get into? I never paid to go to a park in the 20yrs that I lived there.

Griffith Park, McAruthur Park, Echo Park, just to a name a few in LA are all free.

However I would pay in FL if meant riding a bike away from cars. The only safe place to ride a bike in FL is on a bike path.

Seriously? There are many parks in California a person has to pay. Mind you things may have changed from ten years ago since I last lived on the west coast, but here is a link at least:

http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/737/fi..._day%20use.pdf

I use to go to Cali frequently when I lived in Seattle, been to numerous state parks there and remember clearly paying to get in a lot of them, though not all.
