I'm going to be going to JWU and I rented out a room in the NE 8th ave area. I was just wondering if the place is bad...

I personally don't like it and would steer clear of it.

It used to be worse. What's your nearest cross street? I wouldn't want to live there but there are worse areas in town. 1-10 scale I give it a 4-5. But really depends, defeintly better if you are south of 125th street.

NE 167th St. N Miami Beach Blvd. So, I shouldn't be out walking at nights?

I agree with this. Try to stay away from the cheap apartment complexes along West Dixie and NE6th ave.

BTW 167 ST is North Miami Beach, not North Miami. The incorporated part north of 167th seems somewhat safer, also better lit at night and sidewalks. Closer to 10th ave. and the canal is much better, still very Jewish.

NMB is safe and only gets "spill out crime" from North miami, which ain't bad.
North miami is a haitian city, with a counterpart of cubans.
You live very close to NM's "eastside". Which is the only thing that makes NM dangerous.
In the city of NM, those who live on the eastside beef with the westside residents.
This is primarily a thing that ppl 30's/under and that actually grew up residents of the city engage in.
How bad is it, really? Lets just say people from Overtown and Liberty City laugh at so called north miami "thugs" and consider them and the place they're from "pu$$y".
You'll be safe, nmb probably sees 1 murder every two years
