Whenever I go on zillow, I note the # of homes for sale and the date for Miami. Today the number nearly doubled when compared to a few days ago. I haven't noticed more homes up for sale than usual. Have you?

Maybe a few condo's opened up for sale at the same time? maybe it's a zillow bug? Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Here's the data I have been collecting:
7/9/2007 -- 2632
7/16/2007 -- 2732
8/3/2007 -- 3129
8-Aug -- 3,230
28-Aug -- 3,396
9/2/2007 -- 3,514
9/20/2007 -- 3,459
9/25/2007 -- 3,512
10/25/2007 -- 3,652
11/6/2007 -- 3,997
11/9/2007 -- 4,084
11/12/2007 -- 4,247
11/14/2007 -- 8,577 ?!!!

I've noticed an increase in my area. There were like 10 homes for same since June (none have sold) and now there are 13. In addition, the builder continues to build more homes of the exact same model for less money so those homes for sale aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

In my area, I have seen a few new realtor signs go up. The ones that were already up have been for sale forever and a day. What I have noticed is that "for sale by owner" signs have popped up like mad. I see a new one each day... some blocks have two to four. I knew that the situation is ugly, but apparently it is much uglier than I thought! The crappy poor excuse for a tax reduction ($240 bucks a year.... oooohhhhhhh... don't spend it all in one place! LOL) does NOTHING for anyone... and they just announced that within the next couple of years the price of water is going to triple. Yeah, good move Miami-dade... that will DEFINITELY cause a stampede of people wanting to move here with the triple water, quadriple taxes and quitawhipple-dipple-pipple insurance rates! LOL I am usually a very positive person... but the stupidity of the people running the show in Florida (particularly Miami-dade) is truly mind boggling and mystifying. Rick

Houses for sale in Ft.Laud have more than doubled this year, with only a 7% increase in sales. In a normal, non-glut market , 7% would be good., but not in a market flooding with property. To sell in this town, you MUST be willing to take a loss, or you have to have a pristine property that is essentially turn-key.

Everyone is running north to NC, SC, VA, and TN. Unfortunately, the people "escaping" will soon find that those areas are rapidly becoming just like S.Florida is now... overcrowded and expensive.
