I am a single guy in my late 20s looking to go back to school and decided on Miami. I understand Coral Gables is very nice and thus quite pricy. I will have the GI Bill paying me BAH for the time I'm in school but I'll need to cover the summer months myself so I'm looking for something at least somewhat affordable. Ideally I'd like to find a 2 bedroom place in the $1200 to $1400 range and within a 20 minute commute to campus if that's possible. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

I like South Miami a lot. Check around there. It should be cheaper than Coral Gables.
Maybe check Dadeland as well.
Plus both of those are on the metrorail if you decide you want to take that to school.

Why two bedrooms? Roomate? Family? Two bedrooms makes your budget a bit more difficult.

I'd prefer two bedrooms because I have a lot of stuff but if a 2BR is too expensive I can get rid of some things.

I would second South Miami or Dadeland, and i'll also throw in Coconut Grove.

Coral Way. I love that neighborhood and is not expensive like the Gables.
