The City of Miami kinda sucks no doubt but the problem with the article it doesn't take in to account the nice areas are just outside Miami limits like Fisher Island, Coral Gables, the nice parts of Miami Beach, Kendall, Weston all the other nice parts of Broward and Palm Beach which are technically Miami Metro Area.

So I just looked at the so-called "Best Cities." 6 out of 10 of them are Midwestern whatever cities, with Madison, Wisconsin at the top

So I agree; Miami does have the lowest quality of life if you're an uptight boring Anglo.

Miami does make a whole lot of these lists you have to start realizing we're pretty down there if you want to believe it or not.In this one I do believe it as the three factors the study focused on are things that Miami is not so good at.

1. Income, affordability, and health benefits: Income, cost of living, and health insecurity can be a great source of stress, so we included median annual rent as a percentage of median earnings for full-time, year-round workers in addition to percentage of population with health insurance coverage.
2. Local economy: We looked at the percentage of people with income below the poverty level and the local unemployment rate.

3. Work-life balance: We included mean weekly hours worked as well as mean travel time to work to see where people work fewer hours and spend less time commuting.

These articles clearly have an agenda when their promoting cities you know have worst economies then you. Miami has problems but slowly but surely will get better eventually as times goes on.

Or a major hurricane will hit us and it will get worse...

The list criteria is clearly flawed though, and everyone who reads it will know that. Anything with the name "Huffington" on it isn't exactly a scientific publication, anyway. They do whatever they have to do to fill pages with fluff and catchy headlines, even if they have to make things up all day long to get the hits. The more people who view this stupid list because we copy links to it onto City-Data, the more money they make and the more they will churn out more stupid lists. Think a little people, and stop posting this nonsense like it means anything, and stop frickin' clicking on the links to stupid articles if you want to support smarter ones!!! Our population gets stupider by the minute because we keep supporting all the people who have nothing to say, and exclaim like it means anything every time they open their mouths and air comes out. It's not relevant, and it remains irrelevant if you stop supporting this stupid drivel.

Based on those stats... of course the tiniest places with the cheapest houses and the lowest traffic will get the top 10 spots. So yeah, it's a silly analysis because it's missing a million other factors.

For Miami, if you live in one of the affluent bubbles, quality of life is unbeatable, warm weather, great food, plenty of retail and things to do, i.e. SoBe, Fisher Island, Brickell, Midtown (recently), E. Grove, Gables, N Miami Beach east of US 1.

It's the "meh" areas, i.e. pretty much everything west of US 1, and the ghettos and super-ghettos, i.e. Overtown, Liberty City, W. Grove, that brings down the overall stats, i.e. --

MEDIAN ANNUAL RENT AS PERCENTAGE OF MEDIAN INCOME
35.86%
PERCENT OF PEOPLE WITH INCOME BELOW POVERTY LEVEL
31.70%

For the people who are confused by the Huffington Post who used a Nerdwallet analysis based on, albeit incomplete, numbers and turn a blind eye. Just take a stroll in Liberty City. Bring your big dog during the day, dress poorly, you won't get shot, just some stares, then you'll think -- oh, those percentages might have some merit.

By the way, Nerdwallet is basically a credit card review site that makes $ commissions off affiliate signups, it's by no means the liberal left attempting to indoctrinate an agenda. And yes they generate traffic with fluff pieces like this, but data is data.

The study was not done by HuffPo, so you'll have to bash Nerdwallet instead.
