Miami protesters shut down traffic on I-195 | The Miami Herald

While most of Miami was entranced by the allure and celebrity of Art Basel, hundreds of protesters marched through city streets Friday evening and onto Interstate-195, jamming the highway, Midtown and Wynwood for hours as part of a national response to police-involved killings

They should be run over. That isn't a peaceful demonstration. You are impeding traffic which might include emergency vehicles

Saw this on the news, but I don't get it. All these people are accomplishing is pissing off people who are trying to get home from work after a hard day.

This does absolutely nothing for their cause at all. In addition, the traffic was totally gridlocked and backed up for miles, so if someone had an emergency, such as getting to a hospital, or fire, it was impossible to get through. They were also protesting in regard to people nobody had heard of and someone who was killed by police over a year ago. Sorry, but I found the entire mess ridiculous, obnoxious and hazardous.

I remember when anti-Castro Cubans used to block the Dolphin at rush hour when I was trying to go home. Harassing innocent drivers does not attract any support to one's cause.

Exactly. However, when you consider that civil disobedience, rioting, arson and looting is their "answer" to every problem they have in life, it really isn't that surprising that they are being shot by cops in the first place.

I don't think their approach is the correct one. It will not solve anything and their actions are simply angering people and turning them against them. People that might even agree with them and understand their frustrations.

Personally I am not mad at them, it is an inconvenience but it is better than some of the other protest that we have seen on TV.

That type of protest might make more sense if it was in protest of the tolls and express lanes.

No they shouldn't be run over. No driver should put themselves in that predicament unless their lives are in danger of being threatened with bodily harm.

Your comment about the protesters potentially impending emergency vehicles is a valid point that should be dealt with by police.

Sometimes I have the impression that this is the root of the problem:

It was primarily about the local "graffiti artist" who died after being tasered. We would have called him a vandal who was fleeing and eluding a LEO but I guess things change.
