Downtown Miami a magnet for millennials | The Miami Herald

Saw this article pop up in my Twitter feed. Kind of a boring article if you ask me but I am posting it here to ask about downtown Miami's safety. It's a neighborhood that has interested me lately mainly due to its walkability.

Do you feel safe walking around alone in downtown Miami?

During the day it's fine. For me at least, like i said in a previous article, at 2am, go two blocks to the right off of Biscayne and it feels like a different world.

That doesn't make sense, don't you mean to the west of Biscayne Boulevard, because if you were traveling north on BB it would be left.

Bayfront Park, the AA arena, the Arsht Center, up to Margaret Pace Park, and even Wynwood, I like those areas a lot and never really felt unsafe there.

Is Wynwood considered downtown?

Good question, I don't think it is but it's still close enough.

Yeah this neighborhood seems quite up and coming. Gives me too much of a hipster vibe though. And Wikipedia says the median income for residents of Winwood is under $12K a year which blows my mind. It is Wikipedia however.
