Last month saw the release of some new information in regards to the coming MiamiCentral station.

It's a pretty solid piece of new infrastructure especially in regards to allowing Tri-Rail run to the center of Miami with a link to Metromover and Metrorail. Supposedly with this will come with several new Tri-Rail stations within and north of Miami so there's the possibility of people skipping the heavy traffic congestion and taking some cars off the streets.

How does everyone feel about this? Does this seem likely to happen in 2017? That seems like an incredibly fast turnaround for such a massive project.

In other news, apparently part of the housing in the complex isn't meant to be luxury nor subsidized low income housing--just regular market rate housing. How odd, isn't it?

I'm in favor of anything that helps the traffic woes.

There's plenty of luxury supply, and I suspect the market will welcome some solid "regular' housing.

But I doubt they'll get the thing done by 2017. Hopefully by 2018.

Interesting idea, I like the concept of real train service to Miami again after decades without it.

It's still not finalized whether FDOT will actually commit the last pot of money for Tri-Rail to stop at the new station. Pretty revealing how out of touch FDOT is with respect to anything that is not a highway, especially when there has been unprecedented consensus and co-operation among local and regional agencies.

No word is harsh enough to describe FDOT

I thought this was more or less final and they are currently planning and constructing for additional berths fro the Tri-Rail to be able to stop there? It really isn't something they can add on after the fact.

FDOT is dragging its feet because that's how they approach anything that might improve walkability.

On the other hand, Gov Scott would never let a Florida corporation not get more money, so I expect that ultimately this will get funded, and maybe the east-west rail will gets fund too. FEC and CSX are too important in Florida
