If you enjoy the Florida weather and ocean I might recommend visiting Biscayne National Park. It's located right next to Homestead and has beautiful scenery. Its great if you like boating, snorkeling, or scuba diving.

That being said you have to either bring your own boat, rent a boat, or go out on an arranged tour. Plus there is no beach to speak of so forget it if you are looking for the nightlife and socializing.
