My husband, an academic, is teaching in Miami Law School starting January 2009 for about seven weeks. We live in Paris, France. We'd really appreciate advice about where and what to rent - is it possible to bring our female Malinois - or advisable to kennel her here... Would Key biscayne be the right place for us... We are early sixties, are fit, bike, swim. We could exchange our appartment in Paris... I by the way am a painter.

Any help or advice most welcome

Berri

Default Key Biscayne short-term rent January and February 2009

Hello again,
I realise my first post was too vague for an answer. Never having been to Miami, the sort of questions we are asking are, for instance, about traffic and getting to and from the mainland from Key Biscayne at rush hour - the sort of prices one would expect to pay for a short term rental - what the weather is like at that time of the year, January, and so on - would it be insane to bring our dog over from Europe.........
Thanks in advance...
Berri

Hello berri
I don't know a thing about Miami, but I wonder if you might get more help posting in the Miami section of the Florida forum?
About your Malinois, your dog would probably be happiest with you, as long as she gets out for exercise.
This is what I learned from the U.S. Center For Disease Control:

A general certificate of health is not required by CDC for entry of pet dogs into the United States, although some airlines or states may require them. However, pet dogs are subject to inspection at ports of entry and may be denied entry into the United States if they have evidence of an infectious disease that can be transmitted to humans. If a dog appears to be ill, further examination by a licensed veterinarian at the owner's expense might be required at the port of entry.

Proof of Rabies Vaccination: Dogs must have a certificate showing they have been vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry into the United States. These requirements apply equally to service animals such as Seeing Eye dogs.

Thanks so much y'all (hope its right way of saying it!! ) for those answers. Indeed our Malinois girl is such an emotional dog, she'e be happier with us - and us with her!! . She has her dog passport, her electronic identification - and her charm...
I see the moderator (thank you) has put me on to the Miami forum.. So hopefully things might move a bit. Thank you again in advance for any extra help and advice about Miami.. Berri
