But there's a catch...

First you have to pay for at least the minimum amount of time for the parking space; then, the city will give you an extra hour free before you have to worry about receiving a parking ticket.

"Here’s how it works:

You park your car, pay the meter and go off to shop and eat. Unlike the rest of the year, you won’t have to worry about finding a parking ticket on your windshield if you’re a little late. Instead, you’ll find a note on your windshield that says your parking was given a one-hour extension for free.

The free hour extension is only available to drivers who have paid for meter parking and then ran out of time."

Just download the app and renew your parking time when you are notified. Easy as that. Why would anyone have to worry about parking. I just worry when I have to park my car in a bad neighborhood.

I guess he's blaming the jewelry store for selling jewelry in an affluent area.

Why on earth would anyone pay a meter when you can just download an app?

"Pay the meter" was just used generically. It doesn't matter if you use an app or physically put money into the meter. The point was that you had to pay for the minimum amount of time - either by app or parking meter - in order to get the additional free one hour of parking.
