Hello I will be soon working at MIA Airport (previously thought to be Orlando but the company changed their plans ), moving from out of state.

I am looking for an apartment or townhome within 15-30 minutes of the airport, ideally a gated community or at least in a safe area. Budget is not to exceed $4500 total a month, (ideally), if that is even realistic for Miami.

Two additional roommates will also join me with $1500 budgets each monthly.

Extra brownie points if the neighborhood or nearby is other working professionals and has "energy" (music, cafes, etc.). (I am not really seeking out a retirement community)

So, your total budget is $7,500 a month for rent?

1500 each x 3 people = $4500 a month. MAX

My apologies for any confusion

Doral, Coral Gables, or just a bit further north than both of them, Miami Lakes. I suspect your rental budget will provide you with more choices in Doral and Miami Lakes, but I think it’s still doable in the Gables.

Agree on Doral - its coming alive too with more restaurants, a 'downtown' area with events that take place and its not a hard drive to the airport (Basically 1-2 roads is all). Lots of options for $4500 for a townhome in a gated area.

A house in Miami Springs (if you can find one) is also a nice place to live but you're driving 15-25 mins every time you want to do something.

Midtown is a great idea for a condo. Get a 3 bedroom in a nice high rise with amenities, meet people, walk to great restaurants/shops/banks/medical/cleaners etc. Hop on 1 road and take it straight to the airport going against morning traffic. Midtown 2/ Midtown 4 are great options. 24 hour security, package acceptance, parking garage, etc.

Upper East Side is probably 3rd option in terms of commute proximity. Has some sketchy parts but for 3 guys, you should be fine. Even a 3 bedroom in Nirvana could work as they have a great pool with a 'beach' on the bay, volleyball, 24 hour security, awesome gym, etc. Probably no washer/dryer in unit though like the newer Midtown buildings.

Downtown is always an option too, or the high-rises around Margaret Pace Park (Quantum on the Bay, 1800 Club, Cite), its just rare to see 3 bedrooms come up and they might be pushing $5k+ nowadays. But it includes your cable, internet, water, and they have great amenities too. Plus you're in front of the park which has nightly beach Vball games, basketball games, dog parks, morning/evening yoga, etc. Great place to meet younger locals.

Plan for 3 months to move in and be ready for landlords to not want a roommate situation. if you can swing the whole lease on your own financially, you may have to.

There are also high rise 'rental' buildings now around that area as well as Midtown. they might have options for you and be more 'roommate' friendly.

Thank you. Can you provide a zip code for “midtown”

You definitely don't want to search the entire zip code.

Midtown is the area West of Biscayne, East of NW 2nd Ave, South of the 195 causeway and north of about NE 28th Street.

The addresses of the condo buildings I was referring to were: 3470 E Coast Ave; 3301 NE 1st; maybe a big loft at MidBlock 3250 NE 1st Ave or the rental building Midtown 5: 125 NE 32nd St & Midtown 6: 3101 NE 1st Ave

Most of these will require a realtor to help you, these are private condos except the rental building. The same realtor can help you though for Apartment rentals. You don't pay anything, they get paid by the landlord or the rental building and has no bearing on your monthly rent.

Miami Springs hands down for me but it depends on what kind of lifestyle you are searching for. Miami Springs is a quiet, residential neighborhood with walking paths and a golf course. If you are looking for a thriving nightlife or close to it perhaps Brickell would be a better fit. Only warning would be some of the flooding issues now happening in places like midtown with king tide.
