It's in a bad neighborhood but I have heard that all of it's magnet programs are good especially the ones related to the arts. It is an A rated school and is rated as the 4th best school in the state.

^^^Exactly, great school, its a magnet school so you have to apply and be accepted. It is surrounded by a, lower middle class neighborhood.

They are not better per se, they are geared to specific learning. Some are Arts driven, Medical, Language, etc. It is sort of like European schools are, where you decide a path at a young age and you start studying before you graduate High School. Try this link it lists their different curriculums Coral Reef Senior High School | Miami's Mega-Magnet

International Baccalaureate
Visual & Performing Arts

Coral Reef has been ranked in the top 100 schools in the USA by Newsweek Magazine more than once. It is highly sought after and admission is competitive. I know parents with children in elementary school now (grade 2!) who are already planning strategy to get their kid in there. Another parent I know with a child there now says it is good and they run a tight ship.

i went to the school 4 a look and i am told that it is a computerized system lottery ticket to get in and only out of 5 kids will get a place, and not necessarily the ones with the best grades....

Yeah. The IB program is competitive, but there's a reason they stuck Coral Reef High in a lower-middle class neighborhood with a high minority population...
