The defense lawyer may want idiots but the DA or prosecuting attorney sure doesn't want that. They have a process where they eliminate potential jurors with and without cause so there is a balance to the members of the jury in most cases.

In other words, trying to skip out on jury duty is pretty un-american, especially considering that you may need someone to serve on a jury for a case that affects you some day. I stand by my first paragraph as being valid...

My friend was called for jury duty, on a grand jury, she missed every Wednesday from work for 18 months, sometimes it was sporadic. I don't know how anyone could do that, or be required to do that...even our employer, who is very liberal on that, started to get tired of her always being gone for "jury duty", and the rest of us had to pick up the slack when she was gone. Imagine if you get picked for something big...and have to be sequestered, how can people do that? Don't they have a life?
