Seems you don't get a lot of house for your money. Older homes refurbished to look like newer home (granite, stainless steel, etc.) and still not very affordable. Is it that nice of an area? And if you work in North Miami, how hard is it to get across town?

Thanks

Pinecrest is an older established neighborhood (not as old as the Gables) so in some ways you are paying for this. And as it a sought after neighborhood, it will have a drop in price, but not like what you will see in the newer neighborhoods further west and south. The lots in Pinecrest are usually larger, Pinecrest has many great schools in the public school system. Its also close to many of the great private schools. Pinecrest is also located close to lots of shops and restaurants. Pinecrest is a Village so they have their own police department. The list goes on and on. If you want something cheaper but close to Pinecrest look across US1, lots are still large but not as expensive as a home with the Pinecrest zip code. Goodness I wouldn't suggest anyone live in Pinecrest and do a commute to North Miami, unless they can go into work late or early before the traffic. If you are going to work in North Miami I would look at places in North Miami-Dade.

Funny, it's only 12 miles from Pinecrest to North Miami (near the airport) but I guess driving through the city isn't any fun. Thanks for the info

Traffic would be a nightmare. Pinecrest is very desirable. When they incorporated back in the mid 1990's, it did a wonderful thing for the area. Neighboring Palmetto Bay is a little less expensive and nice, but not as nice IMO. Further south you have Cutler Bay (for which I held VOTE YES FOR INCORPORATION signs back in 2004). Cutler Bay is nice, but has some rough spots. Remember you can always take the metro rail all the way up north if need be.

The airport is not considered North Miami...far from it. Driving from the airport to Pinecrest area would be about 45 minutes to an hour each way....lots and lots of traffic.

North Miami is city and it is nowhere near the airport.

City of North Miami, a diverse community in South Florida

She's probably referring to the Opa Locka Airport, not MIA.

To pile on - Pinecrest is among the most desirable areas in South Florida. The largest problem is that its not near any major highways (not that it would help). Perhaps the airport that is 12 miles is Tamiami. Pinecrest has great schools and is a great community.

I wish more of Miami was like Pinecrest and less like Guatemala.

do you live in pinecrest? have you been to guatemala?

pinecrest sure is nice but in my opinion far too pricey and far too aggrivating to get in and out of. personally I don't see the draw to the place if you analyze the pros and cons.
