It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Plan on commuting 30 minutes or more to shop or do anything. Even the nearest Wal Mart is 20 minutes away. Overall, I don't know a whole lot about Vassar, sorry! My grandma lived in Millington (next town south), so I have been through it a few times.

Question For what purposes?

What we can tell you (that is useful) will depend somewhat on the reasons you want the information for. Are you looking to relocate? Do you want to vaction there? Start a business? Buy property as an investment?

I agree with the previous poster. Quaint little town, not much else. I used to go to a mountain bike trail near there.

Good luck!

Not much other than if you blink you'll miss it.

Oh, and it's had flooding in the past from the river.

vassar as of this date is still really a great small city to live in, with very low crime rate
today being 3/16/2008.
i live in millington just south of vassar and own a few rental houses and apartments,
in Vassar and know quite alot about the area.
over the years it has really increased development because of people spreading out away from
the Flint and Saginaw city's where they do feel safer for themself's and their children
also, Vassar is located here in Tuscola County and just next to Michigan's hotest tourist
town, "Little Bavaria in the City of Frankenmuth, Michigan; (lots of people from Germany moved to Frankenmuth over 100 years ago!
I wonder if you did ever move down here to Vassar?

My parents live there and we used to. It is a nice family town. I couldn't see it for singles who want to live the life, but it is a nice little place to raise a family. They have a couple of parks and some new apartment complexes going up. They have the bare necessities, including a McD, but that is the only fast food joint. A library, schools, etc. Like I said, nice for families, but not really the place for a single person.
