When does Traverse City have "traffic"? When there is a wait through two traffic light cycles??

During the air show weekend at the start of the cherry festival.

That's traffic if you've never been to a real city

Larger cities have the highways to take care of large amounts of traffic -- TC doesn't. If you're talking about cities like LA, NYC -- well, those people are crazy for trying to live there anyway. Driving there would be my own special hell.

TC, hands down. Summer is spectacular. It's golfer and/or boater's heaven. Learn to ski and winter can be something to look forward to instead of something to dread.

Traverse city is more of a tourist location, and it is a beautiful place. Green Bay is a bigger town and has more urban amenities. As far as weather goes, the temp should be close to the same (GB is slightly colder), but snow wise TC gets ALOT more. Really the two towns are a bit similar, both are on Lake Michigan bays, and TC is close to the Leelenaw penisula, while GB is close to the Door peninsula. Both the Door and Leelenaw penisulas are very very similar. I doubt you would find life radically different in either town, both would be nice places to live. Because this is the Michigan forum you will find most of us partial to TC, but Im sure youd see a different response to your question in the Wi forum.

I did some research on the Door Peninsula, and you're right... it has a lot of similarities to the Leelanau/Old Mission area. Wineries, cherries, apple orchards, rolling hills, and lots of water. Now I want to make a trip to Wisconsin!

Traffic along 31 from Acme into downtown Traverse City is awful. In the Summer, I'd compare it to the crawl that happens in Chicago (not on the highways, but on the streets North of downtown). I'd also say it's worse than 28th Street in Grand Rapids (if you know the area).

I'd vote for Traverse City. Green Bay reminds me of a Buffalo, NY or Dayton, Ohio.

Do a Google Image search of Green Bay and half the pictures are of the Packers... Conversely, do the same for Traverse City and it's like BAM!, beautiful scenery.

I suspect TC is a nicer town as its mostly ever been a resort second home destination type of place. Green Bay is more an aging industrial sort of place I think.

That said I've thought of retiring in northern WI instead of Michigan (not all that seriously but) mostly because in Michigan while the lakes are awsome! they do sort of tend to hinder travel anywhere else. If in WI you can at least travel west without having to circumvent the lakes. Just a thought. Depends on if you planned on doing any other travel.
