This anti-"Country Boy" attitude is a little unsettling. Some of you seem very judgemental and close-minded.

I ended up going out of the US to find a spouse, as the women here were so judgemental and snobby that they wouldnt give me a chance. Glad I don't have to worry about the dating scene anymore.

"Country Boys" might make good boyfriends if you only put your pretentions and prejudices aside. While you're all degrading them, they also are probably talking about what conceited, arrogant snobs you folks are for rejecting them, for shallow purposes.

Again, I'm so glad I'm out of the dating scene. This thread is why.

So you're saying that the country boys are no better than the anti-country boy people?

There certainly are some nice people who reside in rural areas and wear camo and have stencils of deer and what-not on their trucks. I think the OP was just saying that those kinds of guys are not her type.

Stencils of deer on their truck? Nice stereotyping. I have no idea what you base it on, but whatever.

Yes. In all seriousness, read this book:

Robot Check

...and no, the title is not "Robot Check". Not sure why it does that, but the link works.

Based on your post about SVSU, it sounds like you have concerns about money and job issues too. You might just be able to knock off two birds with one stone, so to say, by moving to western North Dakota - say Dickinson or Minot. It's just a sausagefest out there, from what I've read, and there's plenty of jobs too. However, the men you might meet will be of the blue collar variety, but they'll be well compensated.

OP: If you really have made up your mind that you don't want children in your life at all -- you won't even consider dating the divorced dad who only has his kids every other weekend -- then for the time being you should focus on finishing your education and getting established in your career. Pardon my bluntness, but from what you've revealed on these boards, it sounds like you don't have much to offer a man aside from the obvious, so any guy who wants to date you right now (aside from the perfectly adequate sort of guy you've already ruled out) will probably only be after one thing and will dump you after he gets what he wants. After you make something of yourself, you will be in a better position to some day be part of a DINK "power couple". And if you get ahead early, you will have time to change course if you find that that path does not in fact satisfy your deepest yearnings after all.

If you are going back to school in the fall, then for now you should work full time and build up savings. If you should happen to somehow stumble across the love of your life in the meantime, great, but don't waste a lot of time and effort searching for him at this point.

I see them all the time. I even saw one the other day on a pickup truck that had the head of a deer and the body of a well endowed woman. Needless to say the creep factor radar went on overload for me.

Haha! Found it. It's the Browning logo:

All.the.friggin.time on every pickup I see in West Michigan. Almost as much as I see the 26.2 stickers on every other car.

I think I've seen a total of TWO of those Browning decals. The 26.2 stickers are more common around here.

I have a similar issue, but I'm a dude. Many girls around here are either A) Only into country dudes or B) Into bad boys. I'm originally from metro Detroit, so I'm really neither. It was a huge culture shock for me when I moved out of the city and into the country side. I'll admit I wear camo once in a while but I drive a respectable sporty car and not a pickup. I'd like to take this moment and say that I am not bashing country boys! I'm trying to say that there are a lot of guys out there in Michigan who aren't any of those things you aren't into, you just gotta find them!

As a fellow single (male) 20-something in the Saginaw area, I can empathize. I can offer that there seems to be a small pocket of similarly-aged people that go to Planet Fitness (the one on State and Hemmeter) From there, I guess you can make your own character judgements, but everyone's pretty nice. (I'm even there most days after work) Other than that though, I don't know. Mid Michigan sucks for anyone over 14 and under like 45. I'd offer to hang out, (and I guess it'd still be possible) but I'm planning on moving away as soon as f*cking possible.
