We are planning a trip to St.Ignace next Sept the 16th through the 20th of 2019 and hope to catch the fall colors. Of course we know no one can predict the weather and the colors this far out of course. But I am wondering if the colors on the trees are in their prime or changing yet this yr? We can't wait to visit the area and hope we catch the beauty of the trees and just see the area. We are hoping to time it just right. We are crossing our fingers.

Usually thats a bit too early for places by the water. There may be some further North, West and East...but still a bit early yet. You would have to go to the far North Western U.P to find a lot of color at that time most likely.

Thank you for that information. It will help with our plans. Maybe we should change our dates to Oct. We also wanted to make sure the shuttles still got us over for a day trip to the island to explore the Fort and walk around there. I apprieciate your help.

I would go with October. If you look at the UP live webcams I'm not seeing a lot of color yet:

Those are live feeds so they update continuously. You can keep going back to them whenever you want and they're updated every 10 minutes or so. We're going up to the Torch Lake area for fall colors so I have webcam feeds that I have bookmarked in the Traverse City area.

That is great info again. I will save them them and keep going back to them. We wanted to go around the area of ST.Ignace on one of the days when we were there. These will be a big help. We also want to make sure the island shops will be open and and we can get a carriage up to the fort if we go later than we planned. I will be doing a lot of checking for the 2019 dates on these things as well.

We went to Mackinaw Island the weekend of October 21st last year and it was gorgeous and actually got up around 70 degrees as were leaving on the ferry from Mackinaw City. It was the last weekend for a lot of the businesses to be open. In fact one of the bars we ate at didn't have half the things on their menu because they were letting their supplies run dry. Understandable!

We stayed at Mission Pointe Resort which was fun that time of year because it's supposedly haunted in several sections of it. They were giving ghost-hunting tours that weekend.

Let us know how the trip goes!

I'm so glad to hear that the Island was still open that time of yr and the leaves were so gorgeous. I hope the fall colors are that way when we go next yr. Things prevent us from going until 2019. Oh well, that gives us more time to save money for the trip . Thanks for the reply.
