I've mentioned on other theads that I was born and raised in Michigan. There's a couple memories as a small kid that keep reoccuring in my mind and I was curious to see how many remembered this from the 50's or 60's.

Now I don't think that I had even started Kindergarden yet, we didn't have a TV, but we did have a radio and that's where one memory comes from.
I remember hearing these warning about "blasting caps". They discribed what they looked like and said,,,,,,,,"if you see one of these on the sidewalk...DONOT pick it up!
Does anyone remember these warnings over the radio? or am I ... Hallucinating?

Also......does anyone remember when the Military was dropping stips of tin foil from the sky as some kind of bomb testing or something?

I remember those ads on TV in the late 60's-early 70's. I think they included pictures of various different types of blasting caps. I'm guessing DuPont lost a lawsuit and part of the settlement included funding a bunch of public service ads to prevent kids from blowing their fingers off with blasting caps.

I think those ads were older than these ads:

I remember the ads about blasting caps when I was a kid also. Don't remember much about them though.

There were copper, salt, iron and sulfide mine's in Michigan, but I'm not sure what this was about. Like I said, I was about 4 years old.

Here's a link on Michigan's mining history:

I remember those ads well. And in my entire life, before or after, I have NEVER heard of anyone finding a blasting cap on a sidewalk, let alone getting injured by one. I always wondered what prompted those ads.
