As a mom of grown up kids....you cannot predict the kids' life path and choices in any way. They will need to follow their own conscience and talents in making choices, and the truth is that none of us can imagine what their options will be in 15+ years. When you choose a new home, you may reasonably envision a wedding in the back yard, or graduation celebrations, but that's about it.

Ours? Two are in Seattle - one married a Washington girl, the other got the offer he couldn't refuse from a major tech company (that's after earning his Michigan MBA).

Two in Vermont - one because the state offered great support for opening a medical practice in an underserved (although, yes, very pretty) state, the other because he came out of the Marine Corps, finished a degree, and landed a teaching job. His low pay is supplemented by service in the National Guard.

One in PA - kids are rooted in high school and college there and need their in-state tuition.

And only one here in MI - likely to stay but finishing another degree this summer and....well, who knows.

Wherever you go - aim for the best possible schools and the most resilient employment situations for hubby and yourself even though you stay home right now.
