Can anyone give me any ideas for a Michigan vacation during Christmas? I would like to stay in the southwest area of Michigan if possible. Holland,Grand Rapids,Battle Creek, Kalamazoo. Would even love to visit Ann Arbor.

Looking for snow tubing, skiing, things to do with families. We will be with kids under 5 and teenage kids. I would like to find something similar to Crystal Mountain if possible. Any information would be helpful.

There is a small ski resort north of Grand Rapids, the Cannonsburg Ski Area, which offers skiing and snow tubing per their website. Ann Arbor is two hours from GR, when weather and traffic cooperate.

You can probably find enough to keep you busy around Grand Rapids during that time. There is a good kids museum there.

There are a few small ski areas within 30 minutes of GR - Cannonsburg, Bittersweet that would be more than fun for little kids. They are more day ski areas and not the overnight lodging resorts like northern Michigan.

Last Christmas my brother and I visited an elderly aunt in Grand Rapids, and one night took her on a drive through light display at a park. We all enjoyed it, might be a fun family excursion for you. And since you stay in the car, it’d be fun after tiring kids out during an active day.

Michigan ranks second only to New York for the state with the most downhill ski areas at 40 (NY has 51).

Not sure how anyone would not know that this industry existed in Michigan. Everett Kircher, originally from Detroit, who founded Boyne Inc. (fourth largest ski area operator inthe United States, also many golf courses and other resorts) was a huge pioneer in lift and snowmaking technology and is considered one of the most important/influential people in the sport.

That's not even the most impressive ski resort in Michigan.

It's generally snowy that time of year so if you're coming for snow you should have a problem. Be ware though, that it is not uncommon to have no snow at all around Christmas time either. Can be hard to predict.
