I can't take the heat & humidity here in Houston anymore. I miss the changing seasons and the snow!
Well come on back for good this time! - we could always use more people and we would be happy to have ya! [just make sure you have work lined up, as the economy is really rough here]

Yeow, I couldn't deal with that either.

Trust me, I would be the first one in the car!
My husband is in the oil/pipeline business, and unfortunately, Houston is booming in that right now. I have made him promise me to move back up north within the next 5 years though.

I'm with you guys!! I've been in Georgia for 12 years now and would move back to Michigan in a HEARTBEAT!! I currently work civil service, so my chances of transferring to Michigan are slim to none (I'm from the UP... nothing up that way! UGH!)

My dad was from the south and mom was from Michigan and it always drove mom CRAZY the way the neighbors were so "nosy" in Arkansas. People down there of course call it being FRIENDLY, and they feel like people in Michigan are cold and uncaring.

Like we had a family member from Texas area come visit us at our house in Arkansas, and stayed a couple days and left. THe day he left, our neighbor came over and asked who was at our house. He didn't know him, and hadn't recognized his car.

Mom was mortified and told him it was none of his blankety business. Dad felt like he was being "neighborhood watch" -ful and thought it was rather kind of him. LOL

I live in Michigan now. I'm not really in to others in my beezwax, but I do get the intentions behind the nosiness.

LOL! That is EXACTLY how is it here! You would not believe how many times I've heard the life story from people I do not know. It's pretty crazy. I try to be nice and listen, but it gets old after awhile.

It's not being neighborly unless you see a problem in my opinion!

I'm planning to move back to MI before this winter. I'm in SC and there's nothing for me here. My hubby is from this area and even HE says there's nothing for him here.

My mother-in-law calls OH and MI (she lived in OH for some time) the flat lands. Well, truthfully, I like being able to play ball in my back yard without it rolling down a steep hill lol.

Same way in Missouri. They claim 'friendly', I say nosy. Must be a 'southern' thing.
