Mark, I worked in local tourism in Traverse City for many years, and it would be rare to find someone willing to rent for a weekend only. However, if you found a nice place, maybe you could take the whole week even if you didn't need it. Of course, you would need to make sure that check out wasn't till Sunday. Check out the following site, it is considered by many travelers to be the best vacation rental site out there. Michigan Vacation Rentals by Owner, Michigan VRBO®, Vacation Homes, House Rentals (http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/michigan - broken link)

I was married at Camp Blodgett which overlooks Lake Michigan. It's a beautiful local and the money you spend on it goes to a good cause. Here's the website.

Default legs inn, cross village

The views are spectacular, however despite their advertising that they handle weddings and receptions, this is not completely accurate. We wanted to get married and have our reception to follow at Legs Inn. Had our hopes up and when we spoke to them they will only allow weddings and receptions with 20 people or less----in my case just the bridal party and dates. It was our hope to support the local business and share this day with our many friends and family. Unfortunately we were unable to "stimulate" the economy in Cross Village.

Mark... DId you have any luck finding a location? I have been trying to arrange the same thing and no one will accept it. I have offered to pay a little extra, rent the entire week and pay upfront with a security deposit and still no luck. It you have any tips let me know.
