With the lack of good snow for cross country sking or sno shoeing we are hiking. Still good to be outside to see so much going on.
Pair of hawks are cleaning the squirrels out of the area in fine fashion. An egale has been working a road kill deer at the edge of a corn feild. The bucks are starting to loose their antlers too. the does are still spooky from deer season, they still run off but not as far as just acouple of weeks ago. There are one family of three we talk to who will only rise from there bed till we go past then lay down again. The coytes have moved on fewer rabbits in the area now.
Early mornings as the sun pops over the trees makes some fine photos of the frost collected on the trees.
Pheasants are finding lots of corn but having some trouble with cover to keep warm in since there isn't any snow droifts to burrow into at night. some of the grasses around the swamps seems to provide some cover for them since it hasn't been matted down with a wet sticky snow fall as of yet.

Do wish we had some more snow though. Seems like a waste for it to be down south.
