Because of this, They are not processing anything until June 20th. I have no books this semester, all of my bills are going to lapse(a full month), which may cause me to get evicted, and I may have to drop out because of the 17,500 cap a year allowance since I am out of state currently.

How is this an improvement?

Amazing how the government will quibble over the $50 million dollar GI Bill budget down to the last dollar, but then relieve Egypt of a $1 billion dollar debt in the blink of an eye and hundreds of billions in stimulus money to contractors who didn't even pay taxes and breaks cut to Wall St. corrupt banks. Veterans just don't make up a strong enough voting demographic, so it's easier to cut our benefits with little to no effect on the outcome of an election.

Why were you counting on the GI Bill to pay all of your bills? Why are you paying out of state tuition?

I went to school under the old GI Bill, getting MUCH less than $17,500 a year, and had no problems. It's not welfare and you have to be smart about it.

Because depending on which bill they took, the GI Bill IS paying BAH that equals that of an E-5.....+ books and tuition....

I don't know the full extent of this problem, but yea...depending on which one....

I took the most recent one and I was getting 80% for classes and 1400 for BAH.

I'm living in Miami, and I moved from Atlanta, but I wont be a full resident until August. Because of that, I'm paying out-of-state tuition until then. Hopefully, by the beginning of the fall semester, I wont have too much to worry about, and everything will be somewhat stabilized. The June 20th delay threw a wrench in the works since I have no books for any of my classes and I have very limited funds, which isn't enough to cover my rent.

I'm still searching for a job here in Miami, which is no easy task at all.

Sorry to hear you are having troubles but are you really surprised? This is a government program and expecting it to run hitch free is pretty unrealistic.

This is actually my first time using any of these government funded 'benefits', and everything was fine for 9 months or so....I assumed everything would be fine.

I usually have a job to pay for everything...but that hasn't been the case as of late.

I'm sorry you are going through this.

I would look into switching to an in state school, meanwhile apply for financial aid. I read this cap of 17,500/yr was for out of state private schools, is this the case?
Good luck!!!

I probably should move somewhere upstate, seeing that my job opportunities have dwindled greatly upon me moving to Miami from Atlanta.

I have applied for financial aid, but It still doesn't cover a good chunk of my expenses, and I have the full Pell grant awarded to me this semester.

Before, everything was covered, and the Pell grant for each semester helped pay for books/supplies/etc.
