This is not about the police, fire, or public employee system....

Right now, this is about the the military retirement....

And, if they grand father everyone else in like they did the military....really, who cares?

No body will be joining the Military, fire, or the public system anymore....

yes, retirees like me will keep their pittance

those who come after the corporate raiders privatize your pension and give it to wall street will just be playing the criminal lottery like everyone else with 401Ks.

of course, unless the people rise up and bring democracy back through elections over the next decade or so....

It has to do with anyone who works for the government having their pensions attacked, if the government won't pay pensions to police and firemen how can the military think they are above cuts. Apparently contracts mean nothing

1. What "government"? The U.S. Federal Government has stopped Federal pensions? When?

2. The title of this thread is If military retirement changes, current members will be grandfathered! if it continues to drift Off-Topic it will be fixed.

3. Thank you in advance.

My military pension doesn't even make a house payment. Most people I've known didn't sign up for the pension. The real benefit to retiring is the pride of serving, college money, and especially the free health care. Any pension money we get is merely a bonus.

Since I was a Disabilty retiree (a % of a %) and is way less than I get from the VA my military pension is offset, they keep it. So I rolled my time into my Federal Pension and did better. I'm not allowed to discuss that battle on this Forum, my only remaining grump is that I have to send them a check for SBP every month

Not worry though. The congressmen will still get their full pensions at the minimum 62 years of age with 5 years of service because isn't that what really matters?
