See my above post about background checks. I don't think you understand what is going on. Every one of these folks may have had a background check done at the gate and neither you nor they would know about it.
That is not a background check, that is a check against an internal database to see if the person is barred from the base or on some other list (like terror list). The way it was done is there would be an updated list come out and the guard would just check the name against the list, or the guard would call in the name to dispatch who would look it up on the computer.

I live at the base that poster referenced, and the vast majority of the time on our base, the only ID that is taken is that of the driver of the vehicle. I have gone on base many times with members of my family and my husband's family, personal friends of ours, etc. in my vehicle, and so has my husband, and it is extremely rare that the gate guards check anybody's IDs but the driver's. So, yeah, pretty inconsistent background checking going on. Granted, I've never rolled onto base with a carfull of felons, but I certainly COULD have, and nobody would have been the wiser, because 99% of the time, my passengers haven't been asked to produce ID.
I have also been on other bases where ID is always requested and scanned for all occupants of vehicles.
This is not bickering. This is sharing information relevant to the OP.

At my base, NO ONE gets in without a visitors pass, including passengers in a vehicle, and to get that you have to be sponsored by an active duty military member who comes in and signs for you, and then escorts you to the event and back out.
Are convicted felons allowed on military bases for graduation ceremonies? A friend had this question & I told her I would ask here. Apparently an ex is supposed to go to their son's graduation but the soldier said he couldn't go due to being a convicted felon, she is hoping for confirmation but can't find anything online...?
Thanks!
I hope your original question was answered...
