It's possiable.
There is no way that the military will pay for someone's medical school (presumably USUHS), then medically retire them after only 1 year as a GMO unless she lost a limb or something to that degree.

Theoretically, this scenario is possible, but extremely unlikely.

It accounts for 12 years of time, but not 12 years of service. That scenario is not even in the realm of probability.

I was thinking more medical officer in the type that manages affairs vs medical speciality. Something like a Med Ops type. The ones that get all the badges, wear medical, but had to study a lot for their EFMB badge. They "manage" the paperwork so the docs can do medical treatment.

I've only read the first page. Not getting all the haters. I'm a29yr female veteran. My pat answer to anyone is NEVER change your life plans for anyone. They should fit into your life plans or they aren't for you. Having said that, you two need to learn how to fight constructively. If you both really want it to work I think you should go to some counseling. Sounds like she's withdrawing.

Fairly certain the two sentences:

"She is also 30 years old."

"she is a captain, officer, green beret, special ops, 12 years Army service"

in combination, are what people are reacting strongly to.

That exact combination is impossible (females are not 'green berets', full stop), and most of that combination is both quite unlikely and the kind of thing you find posers claiming on occasion. Most of us are quick to jump to conclusions because most of us who were in the Army have run into the kid-or sometimes the man or woman-who claims to have been shot multiple times on a deployment (no scars or record of treatment), be a Ranger (no record of Ranger school and can't even tell you how many phases are in the school), or have previously been some kind of 'black ops commando' in a unit so secret he can't admit it exists. It makes you very skeptical of those claiming these kinds of things in unlikely situations.

I believe the OP probably just doesn't understand the situation.

A much more likely scenario? How about ROTC or USMA from 18-22, actually 8 years of active service, Civil Affairs or Psyops, and undergoing treatment for medical issues in a Warrior Transition Battalion prior to transition out. That combination, I could see.

Some vets are probably rolling their eyes when a woman says she was a Green Beret.

I wore a brown Beret in 1945 (Canadian Army) but never a Green one.
