Intentionally shoot into a buddy's armor so he will gain confidence that it works, I never heard of it. Have people down range when special forces types shoot the target next to them was said to be common in those units.
Having a tank shoot another manned armored vehicle was a training accident.

Even if he's Israeli, there would be no reason to label him JEW. Unless you have another explanation, it seems like blatant anti-Semitism to me. I can't be the only one thinking this?

On the back of his helmet? With a white border around the name tag my first guess would be some sort of exercise observer/controller.
