But the Army, uniquely of all the services, still has veterinarians.
Just in case.
Army vets get assigned to the other services as pet vets and other services that legally require a doctor but not necessarily an MD...like signing off on the commissary inspections.

Absolutely right. I work with Army vets as part of my job. They also work in DOD as public health experts.
