Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities and metro areas in the nation. One way to reverse this trend is to see which suburban communities in Milwaukee County rank in the Top 5 for each ethnic group based on percentage of population for each community.

Here are the Top 5 for Hispanic:

1. West Milwaukee: 25.39%
2. Cudahy: 9.68%
3. West Allis: 9.55%
4. St. Francis: 9.43%
5. Greenfield: 8.4%

Here are the Top 5 for Asian:

1. River Hills: 7.51%
2. Shorewood: 5.62%
3. Franklin: 5.38%
4. Brown Deer: 4.86%
5. Oak Creek: 4.5%

Here are the Top 5 for African American:

1. Brown Deer: 28.59%
2. Glendale: 14.08%
3. West Milwaukee: 10.17%
4. River Hills: 6.26%
5. Franklin: 4.89%

Hope this info will give people who live in or think about coming to the Milwaukee area an idea of where people choose to live in the Milwaukee suburbs.

Smile Milwaukee County is Non-white ethnic majority on 2010 Census

I also went through the US Census Population numbers and noticed that all of Milwaukee County is a non-white majority. Of the 947,735 residents on the 2010 Census, of that number 499,118 residents are of non-white ethnic heritage or they have 2 or more race or ethnic backgrounds. That comes out to 52.66% of the Milwaukee County population as non-white ethnic background. As the city went Melting Pot Majority, so now has Milwaukee County in overall numbers.

Quite interesting. My father is African-American, and born and raised in Milwaukee. I might want to tell him about this pretty soon. He still has some sentiments about his hometown(he is currently a metro Atlanta resident and missed some of the Midwestern culture). I have sentimental feelings towards Milwaukee because it is my father's hometown.
