My husband and I live in western Kenosha County. We just sold our home and are planning on buying our next home in an area where we can legally raise chickens and possibly a goat. We would love at least an acre (the more the better), but a half acre could work. He is just about retired and I am a real estate broker with a virtual brokerage so I can pretty much go anywhere. We have kids and grand kids in West Allis and Franklin and 2 more kids in northeast IL and Chicago. We would like to be closer to our grand kids but also not too far from the others. Some place close to the interstate (94) would be perfect. We are not familiar with many towns/cities north of Highway 50 so I'm here hoping someone can offer up some suggestions. We would love 30 mins or less to either Franklin or West Allis. Our budget is up to $250k. I appreciate any suggestions.

Hi there. I am not sure if this will help, but you did mention proximity to I 94 etc. I would check out Jefferson County, Dodge County. The only reason I mention this is I grew up around there and had lots of family in the Milwaukee area. We would hop on I94 to get there. There is also Rock county to the south, and Washington County to the north. I am assuming you are looking for a more rural location because of chickens and goat. The counties I mentioned have lots of "rural" in them lol. Good luck on your search.

Northwest Waukesha county might also be a good place to look. I lived in Delafield at one point, and while Delafield itself can be a little expensive, if you go out towards Ashippun or on the other side of Oconomowoc you might find something to your liking.
