For the last time, this is it! If you've never been out to see Night Trains at the TCMRM, it's your last chance. The TCMRM has lost their lease and currently don't have a new building. The Night Trains will be running every Saturday through New Years. After that, it's bye-bye. The layout will be torn out and GONE for a long time, perhaps forever!

Here's some video I shot last weekend:

If they're going to destroy this anyways, I sure would like a couple of hours to entertain myself in there with a bunch of green army men, a little paint thinner and a lighter

It's NOT going to be destroyed, the layout will be taken down and put in storage. In fact, they have other layouts in storage that they've never even set up yet due to lack of space. However, with no new location in the works, and only 50% of their expected funding costs covered, I don't expect to see this layout reborn for a long time--if ever.

I remember this display well! Went there many, many times when our kids were younger. I hope they find a new place for their display.

I know it's a volunteer operation, but with it limited hours, and no night hours its limit the number of people who can (pay) admission to visit, see, help pay for it.

But it does look cool, Hope they find a new (cheaper) space somewhere.

They're open daily, and Night Trains are from 6 to 9pm Saturdays. You'd have to be a slave-laborer to not find time to visit them.

We were just there a few months back and our two year old enjoyed it. I kind of liked the place but this news doesn't really shock me. I'm not sure if their model is financially feasible in this day and age. Perhaps they could find a smaller space in a less desirable part of town in order to keep overhead costs down?

I'll be very sorry to see this layout go. It was the only model train display that was available to the pubic 7-days a week. It was a true tourist attraction, and the dedication of the volunteers who ran it was unmatched. I hope they are successful in finding a new home soon.
