So I have a very quick business trip to Minneapolis coming up this week. I fly in on Thursday morning, then fly out Friday night. I'll get off work around 4 or 5pm Thursday. So with only one night, a Thursday night, what would you do? Thats one restaurant and a few hours for nightlife. I wouldn't mind a comfortable bar, nice atmosphere, drinks, etc. As far as food, I don't want to spend more than 40 excluding any drinks I may order. What do you recommend?

Where are you staying? DT? If you are staying on Nicollet Mall the closest places are north about 1/4 mile or so to 1st ave. Many places within walking distance. It is cold here though. Ask a taxi cab driver, they have always been very helpful for me, or ask the desk person at the hotel.
Hope you have a great visit!! Minneapolis is great.

I'd hang out at block E downtown if I were you. See if the Wolves play, good seats are easy to obtain. See if there are any good shows playing at The Quest or First Ave. And when all that's done, check out all the bars on that stretch, my favorite is an Irish pub right across the street from the Target Center called O'Donovans.

I'm staying in Shoreview. I'll have a rental car though.

BryanF: I'm not afraid of a little cold. I've taken a couple of vacations up North and in the mountains of Colorado in December and January.

Now that's what I'm talking about! You've got the right attitude! Be careful, though. I moved up here eight years ago from Mobile with the assumption it would be a two year deal, as Mobile was. Now I can't imagine living anywhere else. I'll never leave. It could happen to you...........

Mobile huh. I grew up in a little town called Hurley, MS 20 minutes from Mobile.

I definately need to come back here during the summer. The pictures i've seen since I arrived show this to place to be quite nice looking during the summer.

I hope you are hibernating. It's too cold for human habitation right now!

Glad I brought my long john's, it's almost cold today

Thanks for everyone's input and help. So far my limited encounters with people at the bar, the Mall of America, my companies two offices, restaurants, etc have been pleasant. Everyone is generally nice and helpful. On another note, I'm dying to see this state during the summer, it looks like it's gorgeous. I had no idea. I will definitely have to make another trip up here in the future.
