I think that Minnesota could look to Nor Cal for some guidance. The Raiders are nothing special, but year in and year out from the beginning of the season until the end Raiders fans show their support 100% while they all know that a division title (at the very least) is probably not going to happen. I was living in Sacramento when the Kings relocated there. They were one of the worst teams in the league for ten years straight, but every home game sold out (or came darn close to it) during those years all the way to today. You can't half-a$$ed support your team. You either do or you don't.

The bandwagon effect.
It wouldn't be so easy maybe if there was more than 2 World Championships won for this city in almost 50 years of professional sports. It is hard to swallow. Name a city or area that has been through a longer slump. Heck, I'd even take a championship to get creamed, just to have one.
You can say the Gophers Hockey, but that isnt really a great accomplishment that is as great as a Stanley Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, or NBA Championship, even a Rose Bowl or Final Four or NCAA championship.
But you rarely hear a Vikings fan on Monday after a loss say "Well, they played hard, it was a good loss"..you typically hear "Those f*ing Vikings, typical, they lost another"
But if they win, its "Wow, what a great game, they are so awesome"
