Have you ever seen the Devil's Kettle on the North Shore's Brule River?

There's a place where the river splits in two. One branch continues on below a fall. The other branch disappears into a hole - the Devil's Kettle. Literally... disappears.

But now...

Quote:
A recent study of Devil’s Kettle Falls on the North Shore, completed out of “scientific curiosity,” shed light on the mysterious waterfall’s phenomenon, a state hydrologist says.

In Judge C.R. Magney State Park, the Brule River splits into two at Devil’s Kettle, with one branch flowing over a typical waterfall and the other branch disappearing into a hole at the bottom. Using stream gauges, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources determined that the water rejoins the river farther downstream, the agency announced Tuesday.

I've seen it, it's an awesome site to see, most unique waterfall I've ever seen. What they figured out makes sense. I've always thought they could dam it off to then be able to go into it if they really wanted answers. I bet it comes out right next to the falls on the right in the splashing area.

Never mind, I was wrong in my prediction after reading this link compared to another I had read. It would be great if they announced the day and time they are going to be doing the dye test, as I'd like to watch it happen. One nice thing about this waterfall being past Grand Marais and almost to Canada, is not many people go to it. Are there ways to see the taller falls on Devil Track River in Grand Marais? I saw people can ski or snowshoe to them in the winter, but wanted to see if they can be seen via hiking path when river isn't frozen.
