my wife is actually from mississippi and has some familly there still.
my question, work. i am an I.T. person, so i was wondering about I.T. work.
typically, computers, phone systems, data solutions {computer connectivity}.
the .com sites tell me that there is in deed, a demand for a person of my skills.
but i would like to know from someone who actually lives there.
thanks,
AJ

Ajroxit, I am not an IT guy but my brother is and a good friend of mine is as well. There are IT jobs to be had in the city areas especially in the college towns. My Brother works in Jackson (which can be a rough place) and my friend works in Hattiesburg. I also understand from them that there are jobs on the coast as it rebuilds. I hope this helps some - Benton

Default Look around Jackson and college towns

A lot of the IT jobs in Mississippi are in the Jackson area and around the college towns (Oxford, Starkville and Hattiesburg). In the Jackson area most of the technical companies have offices north of Jackson in Ridgeland and Madison, and west of Jackson in the suburb of Clinton (former home of WorldCom - Verizon bought the remains and is closing down the office there). Other tech companies are located in downtown Jackson which becomes a ghost town after 5:00 (and not a good place to be at night).

I hear Blue Cross & Blue Shield of MS is a great place for IT workers. It is a beautiful campus and in a great location right in the heart of great shopping, Dogwood Festival, and schools like Jackson Prep.
