I'm moving to Attala County soon and I am looking for an Episcopal church nearby. Our place is almost halfway between Kosy and Louisville, near the Four Corners area.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a church in the area? According to the Diocese's web site, the three closest to us geographically are St. Matthew's, Kosciusko; St. Francis, Philadelphia; and Church of the Resurrection, Starkville.

Thanks in advance ~

St. Matthew's in Kosciusko should be the closest one to you.

Yes, I drove by there but didn't go inside. I'm wondering what the atmosphere is like. Some Episcopal churches are very "high church" with a lot of ritual and liturgy and little blue-haired ladies wearing doilies on their heads. Others are very "low church" with hippies and folk song-type hymns accompanied by a guitarist.

That's the ECUSA for you. Would an Anglican Church in North America parish be more suitable to your needs?

I'm going to make an educated guess and opine that the Episcopal Church is not thriving in small-town Mississippi. Most of the descendants of the people who founded those churches have died or moved away. Their congregations are graying and shrinking. It is hard for me to believe that these churches would adapt the "low church" approach that the OP fears.

I'm not in fear of 'low church', I actually prefer it.
