List all the confederates who were charged with treason.

A colony is really nothing more than a glorified territory. They still adhere to the mother country's laws and customs, and the people therein are subjects to the throne and Empire of the mother country.

Our founding fathers were rightful British subjects. They turned their backs against their country. They were traitors.

The founders of the Republic of Texas were Mexican citizens west of the Sabine River. They were rightfully Mexicans. They rebelled and committed treason. They were traitor too.

But the Confederates? Nah, nope, they's just traitors, tunnel vision on them, can't deviate from the narrative with pesky facts.

None, so far as I know.
On May 29, 1865, Amnesty was granted to soldiers and civilians of The Confederacy. It was an attempt to move forward that worked until persons born 100 years after the fact realized how outraged they were.

Charging someone with treason after they had been granted amnesty would be a little hard.

This was mistake number one by the is government after the civil war.

1. Leaders of the Confederacy should have been tried for treason, and hanged or imprisoned.

2. US troops should have been dispatched to maintain order during Reconstruction, until the South demonstrated they could live peacefully with former slaves.

3. Attempts to institutionalize racism through Him Crow should have been shut down immediately.

Had we done these things, the country would be 100 years ahead of where we are now in terms of how we relate to each other. Instead the South is still trying to fight the civil war, still angry at black people who are not staying in the place, still dislikes the US government and people from the north. Just ridiculous and doesn't make sense.

Dude, YES, it is. It's the same thing. Then you say this:

Is it treason or it is not? You're saying it's not treason, yet we should have punished Confederates as if they are traitors?

That makes as much sense as the nonsense going on in the NFL right now.

Some of the arguments are kind of silly given the fact that we have Black millionaire athletes protesting in a country filled with Black politicians and Black businessmen.
But I gotta go. My wife has an appointment with her Black orthopedist. By coincidence, our Black neighbor, who is a nurse anesthetist was in the operating room during the recent surgery.

Meanwhile the meeting where the discussion "could" take place was back on Sep 19th and I can't find a darned thing about it.

Sure made great headlines, though.

Why are you confused? Reading comprehension?

My first post clearly says that fighting against your own country is treason.

Sometimes you just have to revolt, it's been happening since 45 BC when Julius Caesar marched on Rome. Sometimes people feel slighted or wronged, or that they are not being represented properly. Personally, I don't put much thought and energy into arguing about who was right or wrong about the Civil War anymore. It was a long time ago.

Besides, countries are ran by people. Why are we assuming that countries ran by people are looking out for your best interest and are always right? Tell that to the people of North Korea, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and others. I'm sure many of them would love to get out from under the thumb of their leaders... the traitors.

For the third time, they are both the same thing. Treason is fighting against your rightful rulers.

So now you're saying the British should NOT have viewed the colonies as traitors/rebels/etc.? Funny, they thought it important enough to fight a war against us. Luckily we won.

Agreed. We would be far ahead in race relations if they would have given us equal rights immediately after the war.

I think he is saying that a colony fighting against it's oppressor isn't the same as a nation fighting itself. Which makes sense to me, though arguable.
