MS-3 $31,904
MS-4 $33,023
Each US Congressional District contains about 700,000 people. If there were 700,000 people to be represented in the delta, it would look pretty bad. I'm not saying it's anyone's fault; I'm just saying that statistically it is a real drag on the state.
Of course but it can't be help if there's not enough investment in the area. They have Casinos, Manufacturers, & Tourism industry in that region.

Bless your heart.

The rest of us are doing well in this state. Be successful wherever you go or currently live at now.

By the "rest of us" you mean mostly old money whites. Those are the people that control the politics in Mississippi, they feed their own self interest while marginalizing and taking advantage of everyone else. That is the reason the state is such a ****hole.

The 'Sip is a terrible place to be poor (of any heritage), yet we have more poor people than any other state. It makes no sense, poor people should be leaving in droves, yet too many stay and reproduce, only to further engrain the cycle of poverty.

On the bright side of living here, the talent pool is so shallow it's pretty easy to reach the top with a little bit of effort.

No, I mean the rest of us as in everybody that lives here. ( BTW, I'm Black)

There are many reasons to dislike a state from your personal experience. I just don't see the point in continuing to berate it. You don't like then go on elsewhere.

We don't have more poor people but a higher ratio poor people. Fact is the most poor people is in California.

Poor people had/have left in droves over the past century. Just like every other state you going have those that remain or come back for a variety of reasons.

Those states are not considered the Deep south like Alabama. Also, that’s amusing and cute how you keep trying to convince yourself that Mississippi is something that it’s not. I guess you moved to Jackson from what ever small town you came from and think you arrived and hit the big time.

Those are good points.
BTW, in the past few years I have noticed a great many black people moving back into the state. Some of them never actually lived here - their grandparents migrated out years ago - but others grew up here, worked elsewhere and came back to retire.

In regards to Kentucky it's ambiguous. Some do considered it deep south or better yet mid south. There's no concrete agreement just generalized opinion. Furthermore don't assume something about someone you don't know, it make you look like a fool.

Second, Keep your biscuits in order.

Typical. That's why I smirk sometimes at those that leave just to come back for retirement. It's mainly what the individual career goals and where they want go. I'm not going to hinder anyone chance at success elsewhere. There's many opportunities here in Mississippi depending on what industry. Just too many people ( locally & out of state) awashed in negative perceptions that they overlook or ignore those helping make the state more progressive culturally & economically.
