I dunno...for me I have memories as a youngster getting to waterski at Camp Sabra, a Jewish camp on the Lake of the Ozarks. I've been told that the Ozark foothills become the real Ozark Mountains south of Rolla....I've never actually been to the core center of the Ozarks...the St. Francois Mountains. I've always either bypassed them on I-44 or I-55. I also really enjoyed Tanterra. I love that place. Great food, a bowling alley, massage services, great resorts. I haven't vacationed in the Ozarks in about four years but my intention is to return one of these days. Also have great memories of an old camp that is now-defunct called Heritage Crossing south of Sullivan in the Ozark foothills. Explored many-a-cave there...Shadowcaver probably can relate.

Favourite places in the Ozarks,,, good gosh, how many can we list?

Grand Gulf, the different Shut Ins, numerous back road cricks and hollers where a person can just park next to a tumbling stream and wade with bare feet getting lost under a blue sky losing time, Blue Springs, various underground delights, chatting with locals at greasy spoon outside a proud courthouse square where who-knows-what history could be revealed by the walls and sidewalks as a person opens their ears and eyes to them, laying on a mossy covered hillside during deer season letting the sun shine trickling through the trees warm your aching frozen body as the birds flitter about and squirrels chase each other's tails, floating upon the main and minor streams,,, love it all, its all great, its all the Ozarks, its home - and I miss her...

My favorite place, besides the lake, is Eureka Springs. Love the victorian homes and walking thru the galleries and parks. Of course, I also love just driving thru the country side in the fall...or the spring, or the summer.

I absolutly loved "the river of life " on the north fork of the white river. Had a great time kayaking, and fishing, it is called the "miracle mile" for trout.
