I have to agree about the traffic especially on Airport Blvd. It is horrible no matter what time of day it is, it seems to be a parking lot.

I was born and raised in Mobile and it is sad to see the city where I grew up being so divided. Of course, it was divided when I grew up but I would have thought it would have gotten better not worse in 50 years.

Interesting you point out the very reason why Fairhope is such a nice place.

I'm from Hawaii and would love to visit a quiet small family oriented town with my family. I have traveled across the country during my high school years before moving back home. I now want to take my children traveling across the U.S. to experience life off an island. Would you recommend Fairhope to be a place to stop in and visit?

I'm from Massachusetts originally but have lived in Mobile most of the last 40 years. Fairhope reminds me of some small New England towns... artsy, good little restaurants, great bookstore, on the water, "liberal" compared to the rest of the state. It is a perfectly lovely town and we get over there fairly often.

BTW, we spent several weeks on Kauai and adored it; can't wait to get back. I have relatives on Oahu and the Big Island, as well.

Have a lovely trip with your family (and be sure to get to New England if you can... Berkshires, Cape Cod, Boston...)
