I read the thread about healthcare in mobile here but wanted to know more information, specifically about clinics, because (correct me if I'm wrong) it seems that a hospital is not the primary place one would go for routine women's care like birth control pills or STD testing.

I'm making this thread because of the horrible experiences that myself and my fiance have had with the Semmes clinic, which became even more apparent after befriending a physician who doesn't work there. My fiance got some STD testing done at the Semmes clinic and they flatly refused to give him paperwork that stated which tests he had done and what the results were, claiming it was illegal for them to do so.

I've been in previous relationships in my homestate and had my boyfriends go in for STD testing before becoming physically intimate with them--something I believe all people should do--and every time, they were given a piece of paper showing which tests they had done and the results for each one. There was never any hassle about it.

But at the Semmes clinic, they refused to do so. Our physician friend, who does not work at Semmes clinic, said that Semmes clinic outright lied to us and were being lazy, and that it's perfectly legal to give us the STD results paperwork.

Has anyone else had this experience at Semmes clinic?

Due to our bad experience at the Semmes clinic, we are looking for a quality place that I can go for routine birth control and annual exams. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, much appreciated.
