So I decided to make a recap of 2021 of what has happened in the Mobile Bay area. These are the one that first came to mind. A lot has happened this year for the Mobile area. Feel free to add on to it, I have forgotten a lot that has happened so far this year

Austal: Construction started on new Steelmaking facility, contracted to maintain and upgrade most LCS ships stationed in US waters, contracted to designs a new steel supply ship for navy as well as a steel towing, salvage and rescue ship

Calvert: $775 millions expansion begins

Aldi’s makes an introduction to gulf coast and a new distribution center

Construction of the 2 square mile South Alabama Logistics Park, the new largest logistics park in southeast begins

Movement of commercial traffic from Mobile Regional Airport to Berkley Airport near Downtown begins, ending with a brand new International Airport for the city

Port of Mobile: Deeping and widening of the channel began, CN begins construction of a new high tech logistics park for port, the new refrigeration facility opens up, container port growth set to be at 37% this year

New water park for OWA and a new water park in design for Mobile

The $129 million radioactive SSSB deconstruction contract given to Mobile

USA triples trauma center size and expands the pediatric ER

I-10 widening in Mobile County

4 new city council members

Highway 43 expansion begins that will link Mobile and Tuscaloosa with a complete 4 lane highway

Annoucements:
Mobile among last 3 candidates to get potential USS Enterprise decommission contract (producing 1000s of jobs)

Mobile plans to annex at least 23,000 new residents next year to become 2nd largest city in Alabama

The Mobile Bayway Reconstruction set to begin in 2022

Is it true, all the floorboards inside were all scraped out as I through the window inside the mall by JCPenney entrance.

And actually Crunch Fitness filled the mall corridor entrance.

Dollar General by Cottage Hill/Dawes turned into 2nd PopShelf store
