between Billings and Forsyth......preferably about half-way. Not necessarily the cheapest..........looking for a clean, well run, established facility. This would be "after tourist season"... Thanks

Between Billings and Foresyth is I-94. I-90 breaks off at Billings and heads down to Sheridan.

I've driven that road many times hauling rail roaders. There really isn't much along there. Matter of fact, I don't remember seeing any signs for Motels.

Let me do some research and get some answers for you tomorrow. I just got out of the Hospital today and I need to hit the pit.

From Billings to Forsyth, the towns go as follows:

Huntley, POP 411

Ballantine, POP 346

Pompeys Pillar, Considered a Ghost Town.

Bull Mountain, Considered a Ghost Town.

Waco, Considered a Ghost Town.

Custer, Considered a Ghost Town.

Hysham, POP 330

That gives you a start. Now it's bed time.

<goes off, whacks Google a few times>

Boothill Motel is located at 242 Swords Ln Huntley, MT. Phone: 406-259-0298.
Homesteader Days - Huntley, MT
might be someone at that phone number knows something.

More stuff like museums and events, should be some other phone #s in other towns that you can check with... you'll just have to root thru the list
Montana Tourism and Travel Related Businesses - Beginning with H

Here's a motel list:
MT United States Lodgings
No idea how accurate it is, but it lists these:

El Chaparral Inn, Ballantine MT
406 967-6600

Hysham Motel/the
Lodging Type: Motel/Motor Inn
Phone: 406 342-5627

Bed and breakfast outfits are sometimes in obscure places, and worth checking out. Try here: Montana Bed and Breakfast Inns. Find MT B&B's & Lodging Listings.

Try searching on this pattern, just change the town name:
"bed and breakfast" ballantine montana - Google Search
Turn off javascript in your browser to get a saner, more readable result list. Here's what came up on the first attempts:

B & B Services Curbing - 2633 North 15th Road, Worden, MT 59088-2234 - (406) 670-6403

Somewhere In Time Bed/Brkfst - Somewhere In Time - 266 Hogan Road, Huntley, MT 59037-9323 - (406) 348-2205 (looks nice on their website, rates not too terrible as they go)

Cat Coulee Beds 'n Birds - 48 Cat coulee ln, Hysham, MT 59038 - (406) 342-5692

horse creek bed and breakfast - Horse Creek Bed and Breakfast - located in Southeastern Montana - 1209 horse creek road, hysham, MT 59038 - (406) 342-5827 (ditto re their website)

Sarpy Creek Guest House B & B -- PO Box 30, Hysham, MT 59038-0030 - (406) 342-5668

I know nothing more about any of these, some may no longer exist (google tends to be kinda behind on updating business listings). But it'll give you a few options to check, anyway.

So what the heck are you doing out there in that country, if you're arriving too late to hunt tourists??

Sorry, I should have clarified..................I'll be on I-94 out of Billings, heading east toward Forsyth. Believe it or not, I'm heading back to far northern Ill (Grayslake) to attend my 60th High School Reunion. It's in October, but I'm starting to "put-a-plan--together" now. Many motels seem to reduce the rates for "Advance Purchase".......save 25 t0 35 %.

Thanks.

Smart thing to do. I'd opt for a long day into Foresyth and a shorter day into Billings. You'll find much better accomodations then where the only restaurant closed at 5:30. haha

At the 50th in 2000........46 out of 92 attended

At the 55th in 2005........40 " " " "

At this one coming up, the committee is expecting approx 25 to 30.

We were a "Township" High School in Libertyville, IL. We were allowed to bring our shotguns to school......put them in our Gym Lockers ..... and then we could get in an hour of hunting time on the way home for pheasants, rabbit, ducks and squirrel. Yea, a different world in 1946 and '47 and '48.....in 1949, hunting was replaced with "messin' with the girls after school".
Ahhhh, the good 'ole days...............

Wow, you're a long-lived bunch. Good for y'all!!

Love the hunting after school -- good way to grow that responsibility-node in kids. -- People forget that buying meat in the supermarket has only been around since about WW2. Before that, either you or some commercial hunter went forth and shot it whenever you wanted meat.
