Not myself, but two people I know are visiting Montreal this weekend.

They are big food fanatics. What are some AMAZING restaurants or places to get food in Montreal? Please let me know! Thanks!

Thousands of restaurants in Montreal with hundreds of differing cuisines.hard to give advice.
I'd try to experience Montreal Smoked Meat from either Shwartzes,Dunns or Chenoys.
For an unforgetable Quebec culinary experience =Au Pied de Cochon.
Au Pied de Cochon
Plenty of Chinese options in China town.
Underground city has a 40 restaurant food court under the Eatons center.
Visit Atwater Market and Jean Talon Market.
Let us know how it turned out.

Thanks so much for your help with this!

How about for nightlife? What are some good bars and lounges? This is for a couple in their late 20's borderline 30.

Some good bars? I like Chez Serge, they've got free popcorn, a mechanical bull, funky decor, and reasonably priced drinks - always a good time. I also like Bily Kun, a Czech style bar, and the intimate little venue upstairs, O Patro Vis. They're both a tad on the rockus side, do you friends like places that are more laid back and a little more upscale? There's some great jazz bars in the city, like Upstairs jazz bar. For a truly unique, laidback experience I'd recommend Cafe Gitana, a really fantastic and authentic shisha bar where I've passed many a fun night chatting with friends, smoking good shisha and drinking delicious persians teas. There's also some solid, classy karaoke places like Pang Pang karaoke.

They got back from their trip to Montreal and LOVED IT. They can't wait to go back. Thanks for the recommendations as they tried some of the places you referred me to and loved it. They thought the people were great, the food fantastic and told me that everyone there is a musician! Haha. They even said that would consider living there!

Now I am jealous and dying to visit!

Might I ask which of the places they went to? Just curious!

Also, please do come, and I'd recommend spending longer than the weekend, it's a huge city with enough to occupy a tourist for a week (although if they were staying that long I'd recommend a day trip to Quebec City, a fantastic little city!)

I can't remember where they said they went (sorry not the best at French) but I remember it was some of the ones you all recommended.

Yeah they wanted to stay longer. They actually planned this on the spur as they won free airline tickets from that Friday - Monday. So that's all they could stay. However they had the opition of Seattle, Vancouver, Portland (OR), Montreal or Quebec City. They were going to go with Quebec City but then they thought it might not enough to do so then they went with Montreal.

I am actually dying to go to Montreal and Quebec City. But it might have to wait until Fall 2013 . I am going to New Orleans for a weekend in December, Miami in January and Las Vegas (maybe) in May. So i am pretty loaded up with trips for the next six months.
