Which I find to be pretty ridiculous, considering there's an underground connector joining the parking garage to the main building, and there's now a massive hotel on it. Add to that the disgusting, confusing (and extremely dangerous) 20/520 interchange and airport on and off-ramps, and it seems to me it would just be logical to extend the Metro that way. Or at least run the commuter rail directly to it.

Yes, it really sucks. Although I believe something is in the works but I am not 100% sure of the details.
Canada overall really sucks BTW when it comes to intermodal public transport access to its airports. Toronto only got rail service to its airport in recent months. Vancouver was the first and only for a long time.
The AMT's Vaudreuil-Hudson line already runs right by the airport, so all you'd need is some upgrades and maybe a spur to the airport terminal in order to make it happen. It might not even be 1 km from the current Dorval station to the terminal.

Capacity can not be added to the Vaudreuil-Hudson line due to the CP freight trains.
It's also supposed to be built in conjunction with LRT over the Champlain Bridge.
