The Monongalia County Commission has assured the availability of funding for a new access road to Hart Field, the new National Guard Readiness Center being constructed, and a new 95 acre industrial park...
On the topic of transportation, exactly what road work needs to be done in Morgantown to bring it up to par? I don't drive in Morgantown, so I'm not familiar.
My opinion is the most glaring needs involve Mileground to Point Marion Road all needs to be 4 and 5 lanes, Beechurst Ave. needs to be 5 lanes, Don Knotts Blvd. needs to be 4 lanes up to the I-79 access road, Van Voorhis needs to be at least 3 lanes to West Run, with new sidewalks, drainage, and lighting installed, West Run needs to be at least 3 lanes out to Mount Morris Road, and WV 7 through Sabraton needs to be 5lanes to Hartman Run Road, and we need the new exit on I-79 for the University Towne Center and across I-79 developments.
Long term I-79 needs to be 6 lanes from the WV University Exit to Bridgeport with lighting installed to the I-68 split, lighting should be installed on I-68 from Cheat Lake to the I-79 split, and I-68 should be extended to I-470 in Wheeling to maximize development of the considerable Marcellus and Utica deposits.
Take care of these issues, upgrade the PRT, and our local transportation needs should be fairly well taken care of.
Wow, I never realized the amount of work that needed to be done! Hopefully we can find the money somewhere and help straighten it all out.
